The Society is always keen to encourage young people to show an interest in the clan and to support its various activities. With this in mind we offer a number of initiatives for people in education.

dundee university bursary

This is a scholarship to support a first-year student at the University of Dundee with a connection to Clan MacThomas. We are currently accepting applications. Funding is provided by The Clan MacThomas Society and has a maximum value of £500.

ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

(North American Branch)

Do you know any 17 to 23 year old at college, university or trade school who wants to win a prize of US$500.

The North American Branch is delighted to announce that it is offering its Essay Competition to the families of members of the Branch. The competition is open to any student, aged between 17 and 23 as at 1st January 2026, who is currently attending college, university or trade school.

An essay of one thousand words on any Clan MacThomas or Scottish topic may be submitted for consideration. The winner will receive a prize of US$ 500. Essays should be submitted electronically by emailing: essaycompetition@clanmacthomas.com.
